How to create a bibliographic report in Logos 4

Logos 4 is a wonderful piece of software that is unfortunately missing one or two important features, including a bibliographic report. However, help is at hand! This site will generate a bibliographic report for you. There are several simple steps:

  1. Register as a user on this website, then log-in.
  2. Upload your library catalogue. This is a special file generated by Logos 4 which contains a database of your library. Each book adds around 10kb to this file, so if you have 1,000 resources the file will be around 10Mb. A 10Mb file could take around 7 minutes to upload, depending on your connection speed.
  3. Choose your options, then generate the report. You can sort by author or title. Four styles are available:
    • Table: A table with the columns: cover image, title, authors, publisher, year. Various size options are available for the cover image.
    • Shelves:Displays your books on library shelves.
    • Titles only: A simple list of just the titles.
    • APA: Similar to the bibliographic presentation required by the APA.
    • BibTex: A bibliographic database format, which you may be able to import into other applications like Zotero.
  4. Save or print the report from your web-browser.
  5. Limitations: Because this is a hack, and not something officially supported, you cannot access all the data you may want. Missing are ISBNs, volume numbers, and the publisher's location.

I just received my upgrade to Logos 4 Platinum so am a “newby” to this version. In the above note, you mentioned: “2.Upload your library catalogue. This is a special file generated by Logos 4 which contains a database of your library” How do I obtain that file? A search of the help utility in Logos 4 did not show any results. I loved the Bibliographic report in Libronix 3.

Thanks, Yours in the Epiphany Christ

  • “Click the Browse button below” … where is this button?

  • @Rev Pask: Once you’ve registered and logged in, you get more detailed instructions.

@Barry Wingfield: The Browse button should appear immediately below the instructions. No-one else has reported any issues with this. If you still can’t see it, let me know what browser you have.

Hi, When I click the browse button and a window opens and I paste in the “%appdata%\..\local\Logos4\Data” – I get an error message that says the “path does not exist, please check path and try again” What folder in windows do I need to be in?
I am using Parallels for MAC.
    Thanks

Is there a problem with your site, or have you reached the limit of subscribers. I attempted to register and got this message

User registration is currently not allowed.

Thanks for all your help. I have thoroughly enjoyed your video’s, they have been extremely helpful.

  • James – sorry about that – it should be fixed now.

If anyone else has this problem, just locate the file on your MAC in “Library:Application Support:Logos4:Data::catalog.db”
