Mark – I sure hate to be a pain in the neck. This was fine – and then 5 minutes later (with no action from me) it's non-functioning again.
EDIT – I can go into options and get the drop-downs back, but instead of sermons I get the following message:

That suggests either (a) You have a custom dictionary.php file with old code, or (b) you need to resave your templates.

It worked. That's just *wierd*. I never did anything to the templates that would require resaving them. No matter – it works now.

Mark – the error keeps coming back. I save the templates as you suggest, (and I replaced my dictionary.php file with one from the newest version just in case). Once I save the templates it all works fine for a few hours and then it reverts back to the error code above.

I'm having a similar issue. Things display fine, then several minutes later I lose all formatting and just have a page of preachers and books of the Bible. The only fix is to restore the templates to default.

Do you keep having to save the templates over and over again? That's what's happening to me.

Yep, exactly. I restore to default, don't change a thing, then five minutes or so later, back to junk.

Well, I'm quitting on this for the day. I've lost four hours of my time and nothing gained except knowing that every five minutes I have to reset the templates. I've compared css, looked at permissions, learned about .htaccess… all to no avail.
I understand this software is donation-ware (which I donated to) and it has served me really well… until now. Hope this can get fixed soon.

I am not having your problems on my end so I can't comment on why it may be happening to you. The only thing I can suggest is open up phpmyadmin or whatever you use, and dig through the databse to see if sermonbrowser is indeed saving your templates to the db when you submit a new one. —It should be obvious when you open sermonbrowser and click the templates page… if your changes are there, then it's in the db, if not, something is wrong in other areas… permissions maybe?
That is the first place I would start.
also check your server php_error.log and also possibly the standard error_log.php files to see what is being spit out.

This has only been occurring since the upgrade to the latest build, so, at least on my setup, permissions couldn't be the issue, especially since I have not changed any permissions.

Yep, same here. I have daily backups of my database and I restored it to the state it was in a few days ago, long before I upgraded (which was today). I didn't have any problems before I upgraded with this same database. I upgraded and suddenly things don't work. I'm blaming the latest update.

Sorry I could not be of more help. I'm running the latest build myself on a number of sites without issues – new vs. from yesterday 0.43.1.
So far everything seems very stable and I have not had the problem loosing my templates as I have been working on them all day now.
I'd still check the server logs to see if anything is happening. There could be a number of errors being spit out in the php_error.log that are not visible anywhere else. (I just checked my logs and do not have any errors from sb)
Mark is going to need somthing to go on other than 'my templates reset'… some kind of error, something to give him some direction as at least I can't replicate the issue, and I'm guessing he can't either or he would have said something.

I am not a programmer – I can muddle through, but that's about it. Where can I find php_error.log?

This is really weird. Can you do something to help me? I want to see whether or not your template is ever saving, and if so, at what point it is reverting back to a previous version.
Can you make a small change to your template? Anything that you would notice, but that wouldn't detract from your website. Perhaps use a lowercase 'p' for 'Podcast', for example.
Then check to see whether the change has 'taken'. When you the get the error message, can you check to see whether the change has reverted? Let me know the results. Thanks.

I'll run through the same exercise as well, Mark. I continued to stay up last night and thought the problem had somehow rectified (hitting refresh every few minutes on the sermon page, for an hour). Woke this morning, though, and the problem has returned.
So this is what I've done so far:
1. Reset template to standard
2. Confirmed the sermon page looked correct (http://tinyurl.com/nocv5x)
3. Made a small change (removing the credit link).

(After link: http://tinyurl.com/nc5ucd)
4. Having some good coffee, reading the Times and hitting refresh every few minutes until things break again

Another interesting aspect of all of this, is that settings seem to go back to default as well. For example, when this change happens, and I revert the templates back to default, I notice that the settings page is back to default to.

I'm not sure if this occurs before or after the "reset templates to default" or if it reverted back at some other point.
For grins, I'm going to change the path of my files (it reverts back to an upload path that is incorrect)

Just woke up… the change I made has reverted (the "p" in podcast is now "P" again) and my drop-downs have reverted to single-click.
